Irena Milcheva Mihaylova has a master's degree in Socio-Economic Information. She a diverse background in the field of financial audit and worked in the Accounting Methodology Unit at the Banking Supervision Department and in the Internal Audit Directorate at the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB). Currently she is a Head of the Financial Audit Unit and Deputy Chief Auditor of BNB. She has internationally recognized certificates for: Internal Auditor, External Evaluation of the Quality of the Internal Audit Units' Activities, Risk Management Assessment and Information Systems Control. She is a member of the Internal Auditors Committee at the European System of Central Banks (ESCB).
